Job Description
This is a technical student role designed for individuals participating in internships or co-op programs at Unisys. The primary focus is to gain hands-on experience in software development and contribute to real-world projects under the guidance of experienced professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize learned processes, standards, and tools in assigned projects.
• Learn about specific products, tools, or technical areas, relying on senior staff for knowledge.
• Participate in various phases of software development, including design, implementation, and support.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Identify and escalate issues as needed.
• Understand requirements related to defined tasks.
• Receive and understand project and task estimates from senior staff.
• Execute well-defined tasks of limited scope, such as:
• Implementing simple features
• Writing clear and accurate documentation for implementation, problem analysis, and resolution
• Setting up and maintaining system software development environments
• Executing pre-written tests
• Writing and/or reviewing test cases for clarity and accuracy
• Implementing test cases
• Gathering information for problem analysis and resolution
• Fixing simple defects/problems in defined code areas
• Provide status updates (written or verbal) on work progress.
Key Qualifications:
• Student enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of basic software engineering concepts.
• Problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with SDLC (software development life cycle) concepts.
• Familiarity with one or more programming language(s).
• Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
• Natural curiosity for technology.
• Ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
