Job Description
This is an exciting opportunity for a Construction Project Manager Intern at Trane Technologies, focusing on building efficiency and sustainability through Equipment, Service, or Controls/Building Automation offerings.
Program Overview:
This is a 12-week hands-on summer internship program designed to allow participants to explore a career in Construction Project Management. It aims to challenge and develop your technical, business, leadership, and communication skills while providing insight into solutions for energy-efficient buildings. The internship offers experience working on all aspects of construction projects, taking responsibility for project execution alongside a Project Manager to complete objectives within set timeframes and available resources. A significant benefit of this internship is the opportunity it creates to join Trane Technologies’ industry-leading Graduate Training Program (GTP) after graduation.
Work Location:
This position is designated as a Hybrid work schedule, requiring work to be performed onsite 3 days each week. Please note that this posting covers multiple opportunities, and some positions may be remote, while others may require a hybrid or fully onsite assignment at one of Trane Technologies’ facilities across North America.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities):
As a Construction Project Manager Intern, you will have the opportunity to learn about Trane Technologies while collaborating with peers across North America. Your responsibilities may include assisting in:
• Planning and Coordinating Projects: Establishing schedules and project parameters, setting procedures to accomplish system objectives. This includes generating tasks, estimates, dependencies, milestones, CPM Analysis, and Histogram Analysis.
• Engineering Team Support: Working directly with the engineering team to support engineering programming and material selection activities related to projects.
• Budget Management: Assisting in establishing and maintaining an operations budget for assigned projects by revising the original estimate based on validated project scope and monitoring the accuracy of forecasted cost at completion by managing expenses.
• Subcontractor RFQ Preparation: Collaborating on preparations for sub-contractor requests for quotations (RFQ), including scope statements, plans and milestone dates, specifications, bonding requirements, and billing schedule of values.
• Subcontractor Management: Receiving and qualifying subcontractor proposals, with help supervising the work of project-assigned staff, subcontractors, and installers.
• Communication and Collaboration: Communicating with contractors, subcontractors, and owners to discuss project scope, budgets, performance, and close-out. You will also communicate with other team members concerning problems, obstacles, issues, and information needs.
What You Will Bring (Requirements):
• Education: Actively enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree. Preferred fields of study include Business, Sales, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, or Engineering.
• Academic Standing: Candidates must have completed at least their sophomore or 2nd year before the start of the summer internship to be eligible.
• Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of construction management processes, means, and methods.
• Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
• Driving Requirements: Possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, ability to provide proof of insurance, and have no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
• DUI in the previous 3 years.
• Hit & Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years.
Compensation:
The pay range for this role is $22.50 – $30.00 per hour. Total compensation will include a commission/incentive plan. Note that this base pay range is based on US national averages, and actual base pay could vary based on seniority, merit, and geographic location where the work is performed.
