This is a part-time Student Lab Tech position at Liberty University, located in Lynchburg, VA. The University is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Job Description:

The Student Lab Tech will work independently under the direction of faculty, exercising good judgment and discretion. They will be responsible for a variety of tasks related to supporting the labs. This includes monitoring lab activities, providing support to users, maintaining equipment and supplies, assisting with lab setup for classes, maintaining and developing lab documentation, equipment testing and inventory, and other related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring lab activities and providing support to users.
• Maintaining a clean, quiet, and organized work environment for students and faculty.
• Maintaining equipment and supplies, and performing equipment testing and inventory.
• Assisting with setting up labs for classes.
• Maintaining and developing lab documentation.
• Working as a team player and maintaining a flexible schedule.
• Reporting directly to the Director and Associate Director of Labs, providing assistance in their absence.

• Computer Networking
• Virtualization/Containerization
• Cybersecurity
• Computer hardware/software
• Cloud computing
• General system administration skills
• Coding and scripting
• Web development
• Linux and Windows operating systems

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be a residential Liberty University student.
• Proficiency in Computer and/or Engineering Technology.
• Ability to work 18 hours per week.
• Critical thinking skills, technological proficiency, and a highly motivated team player.
• Minimum 2.5 overall GPA.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Demonstrate a personal faith commitment to the University’s evangelical Christian purpose.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Students in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, and Information Systems programs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Customer service skills.
• Computer proficiency.
• Team-focused attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions and lead others.
• Christ-like attitude.
• Ability to function responsibly with minimum direct supervision.
