About the Company:

Big Bend Community College (BBCC) is seeking qualified individuals to join their Aviation Program as Certified Flight Interns (CFI).

Job Description:

Big Bend Community College is looking for Certified Flight Interns (CFI) to support the academic needs of students in the college’s Aviation Program. This is a part-time, temporary position reporting to the Director of Flight Operations. CFIs will work closely with full and part-time faculty. The position is subject to the provisions of WAC 357-04-045 and may not work more than 1050 hours in any twelve consecutive month period.

There are three levels of CFI positions available:

CFI Level I ($19.50/hr): Responsible for pre and post-flight briefings, fly schedule as assigned, students in stages 1-3, and assisting with other flight line activities. Requires COMM ASEL and CFI-ASE.
CFI Level II ($20.45/hr): Responsible for pre and post-flight briefings, fly schedule as assigned, students in stages 1-7, and assisting with other flight line activities. Requires COMM ASEL, CFI-ASE, and CFI-IA.
CFI Level III ($23.52/hr): Responsible for pre and post-flight briefings, fly schedule as assigned, Stages 1-7, Instrument CFI and Multi as needed, and assisting with other flight line activities. Requires COMM ASEL, CFI-ASE, CFI-IA, 4 quarters of CFI experience, and at least 400 hours in 141 teaching.

Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Providing private, commercial, and instrument flight and ground instruction using the flight and ground training syllabus, under the direction of the Director of Flight Operations and Chief Pilot.
• Maintaining student records in accordance with FAA, TSA, VA, and college policies.
• Supporting the Director with day-to-day operations, including making copies, scanning documents, relaying messages, returning aircraft to service, and auditing student training folders.
• Meeting with each student as published on schedule, ensuring all flight lessons are completed according to training course outlines specifications, and ensuring all appropriate endorsements are made in the student’s flight book and personal book.
• Submitting requests for stage checks upon completion of each state of flight training and ensuring all flight lessons and flight books are completed before requesting a stage check.
• Ensuring all training activities, flights, and briefings are conducted during normal business hours.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Must possess a commercial pilot certificate, airplane single-engine land (ASEL) with instrument rating – airplane.
• Must also possess a current flight instructor certificate – airplane, single-engine (CFI-ASE) and a current Medical Certificate with no restrictions that would prohibit the performance of flight duties and non-flight duties.
• Must have successfully completed Big Bend Community College’s Part 141 Flight School, commercial ASEL including instrument rating.
