Job Description: Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger

This role focuses on creating an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service while maintaining a safe and clean environment. As a Courtesy Clerk/Grocery Bagger, you’ll demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Bag groceries at checkout for customers, striving for efficiency (at least five items per bag) and ensuring items are not damaged.
• Follow best practices for bagging items in various types of bags (reusable/plastic/paper).
• Assist customers by removing merchandise from the bottom of the shopping cart.
• Offer to help customers load bags into their cars.
• Perform basic shelf conditioning.
• Inform customers of grocery specials.
• Return merchandise to store shelves.
• Gather shopping carts and return them to designated areas.
• Clean spills and collect trash inside the store and in the parking lot.
• Clean all areas inside and outside of the store.
• Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
• Understand the store layout and locate products for customers and cashiers, including conducting price checks.
• Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures and identifying unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues and notifying store management.
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notifying appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
• Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store
• Adhere to all local, state and federal laws, and company guidelines.
• Maintain a cooperative attitude in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment.
• Manage conflict in a reasonable, non-confrontational, and cooperative manner.
• Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
• Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
• Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
