Job Description:

Position: 3rd Year Pharmacy Intern

Summary:

As a 3rd year Pharmacy Intern at CVS Health, you will apply your didactic learning from pharmacy school to real-world practice, preparing for a future role as a Pharmacist. Working under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap to gain firsthand experience within a pharmacy team and learn about store, district, and regional operations. You’ll gain hands-on experience, assist the pharmacy team, ensure smooth operations, fill prescriptions safely and accurately, and provide caring service to patients.

Responsibilities:

• Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, focusing on Key Learning Experiences (KLEs)
• Follow company SOPs at each workstation to manage and improve patient health.
• Follow pharmacy workflow procedures (production, pick-up, drive-thru, drop-off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
• Contribute to positive patient experiences, demonstrating empathy and genuine care.
• Offer counseling, answer medical questions, and gather patient medical history when appropriate under the supervision of a pharmacist.
• Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify prescriptions with prescribers (where allowed by state regulation).
• Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
• Complete basic inventory activities (putting away deliveries, cycle counts, returns-to-stocks, etc.).
• Contribute to a high-performing team, embrace a growth mindset, and seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
• Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs and travel to other stores as needed.
• Comply with all relevant laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles.
• Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point-of-care testing, offsite clinics) where allowable by law and supported by training.
• Potentially support immunizations, including preparing and administering vaccines (after obtaining required licensure and training).
• Educate patients about vaccines and refer patients to the Pharmacist for vaccination questions.
• Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions and report events per public health requirements.
• Review and collect patient information and track and document for each applicable patient.

Required Qualifications:

• Accepted into, or actively enrolled in, an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
• Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern and/or technician licensure as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
• Ability to become immunization certified.
• Ability to work in home store, and across the market in other locations, to meet business needs.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

Pay Range:

• $18.50 – $20.25
