Job Description:
This is a paid internship within Philadelphia Gas Works’ Corporate Communications & External Affairs department. The intern will support day-to-day operations, assist with projects, maintain lists, publish meeting minutes, draft company communications, and conduct research. The role involves interaction with neighborhood leaders, elected officials, emergency responders, city agencies, and customers. The position reports to the Manager of Corporate Communications and Manager of Public Affairs.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with various projects within the Corporate Communications & External Affairs department.
• Update and maintain lists.
• Publish meeting minutes.
• Draft company communications.
• Conduct research.
• Support the department’s interactions with external stakeholders, including neighborhood leaders, elected officials, emergency responders, city agencies, and customers.
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, public relations, or a related field, or demonstrates strong interest in a communications career.
• Available for immediate start. Internship is onsite.
• Familiarity with the Philadelphia area is helpful but not required.
• Must be a full-time student currently enrolled in an accredited university or college.
• Must have a sophomore classification or above.
• Must be in good academic standing.
• Must be able to commit to 16-20 hours per week.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be proficient in social media platforms and familiar with PGW’s online presence (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Nextdoor).
• Experience with Canva or other graphic design programs is preferred.
