About Company:

This project is with a surfing-inspired sustainable development non-profit (NGO) called EcoSwell. They drive the development of poor Peruvian coastal communities through a path of sustainability, focusing on environmental, educational, infrastructure, and socio-economic projects. They work in collaboration with local communities and international interns.

Job Description:

This is a volunteer internship opportunity with EcoSwell in Talara, Peru. The organization is seeking individuals passionate about sustainable development to support the day-to-day management of the organization. This is an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in managing sustainable projects within an international development NGO.

Key responsibilities and tasks may include:

Project Wilipipe – Tide and swell charts for the local fishermen: Creating and distributing tide and swell charts for local fishermen weekly, providing vital scientific data to improve their productivity and economic well-being.
Finances: Supporting accounting processes, working with spreadsheets, and analyzing financial performance metrics and reports.
Social Media/Website: Documenting ongoing activities by taking photos and videos for social media platforms and the website.
Project monitoring, data analysis, and evaluation: Designing and carrying out surveys in the local community, analyzing data, and writing reports to monitor and evaluate project progress.
Project maintenance: Supporting other volunteer interns and staff in the maintenance of reforestation sites, permaculture garden, dry toilet units, and more.

Duration: Minimum 2 weeks, maximum 6 months.

Start Dates: Project is on-going, and you can join at any time, depending upon availability.

Placement Costs:

• In-person: from $1,466 USD for the first 2 weeks + from $608 for each week thereafter
• Online: from $1,081 USD for the first 2 weeks + from $415 for each week thereafter
