The Dental Assistant Apprentice position is part of PCHS’s Dental Assisting Program, which offers hands-on training to become a Registered Dental Assistant. Upon completion of the program, the apprentice will transition to a Dental Assistant role.
Job Responsibilities:
As a Dental Assistant Apprentice/Dental Assistant, you will:
• Assist the dentist chairside during various procedures, accurately charting existing and proposed treatments.
• Perform x-rays and intraoral photos as needed.
• Take impressions, pour up models, and correspond with labs.
• Use and perform spore tests, maintaining records.
• Maintain fully stocked, organized, and safe operatories and sterilization areas, assisting with inventory and ordering supplies.
• Sanitize procedure areas after each patient according to OSHA standards and prepare for the next patient.
• Conduct routine maintenance of equipment, including changing traps, filters, flushing water lines, and maintaining the developer and sterilizer.
• Maintain current knowledge of dental materials, procedures, hygiene, and sterilization/disinfection practices.
• Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• This position has no direct reports.
Qualifications:
• Registered as a Dental Assistant with Washington State DOH (required).
• Active CPR Certification (required).
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• One (1) year of customer service experience (preferred).
