Job Description:

Title: Internship, Meridian Center for Cultural Diplomacy (MCCD)
Employment Status: Part-time, Temporary, NON-EXEMPT
Salary: $17.95/hour

Program/Internship Description: This internship offers exposure to public diplomacy, international relations, exchanges, cultural and corporate diplomacy. Interns will gain pre-professional experience in a nonprofit public diplomacy center. Opportunities for professional development include mentorship, training, lunches with senior leadership, and a capstone project. The Meridian Center for Cultural Diplomacy (MCCD) organizes international exhibitions and cultural exchanges.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Involvement in day-to-day operations of cultural and exhibition programs
• Design project materials for promotional purposes using Canva and other programs
• Assist with cultural programs, receptions, and planning for future activities, in particular research for new exhibitions, cultural programs, and grant proposals
• Determine, write, and edit content for a range of communication vehicles, including the Meridian blog, website, brochures, newsletters, and other publications
• Draft, edit, and schedule content for individual projects’ websites and social media outlets.
• Completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner
• Participation in Internship cohort activities
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Undergraduate or graduate student in a related field (art history, museum studies, arts management, public history, or international studies), or equivalent experience.
• Highly motivated self-starter with superb communication and organizational skills, and high attention to detail.
• Team player with the ability to follow through on long-term projects and to work independently.
• Experienced with Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with archival research and exhibition development is a plus.

Applicants Are Required To:

• Commit 16-24 hours per week to the internship
• Be fluent in verbal and written English
• Have a residence in the DC, MD, or VA area
