CED is one of the nation’s leading, privately held electrical distributors with 700+ locations around the country. CED distributes electrical products and provides value-added services to customers in the commercial, residential, industrial, and solar markets.
Job Description:
This is a Summer Internship Program with CED in Houston, TX. The internship offers hands-on experience in the electrical industry through rotational assignments in various aspects of the company’s operations. As a CED intern, you will gain experience in each aspect of company operations including:
• Warehousing & Logistics
• Inventory control & Quality assurance
• Customer Relations
• Purchasing Logistics
• Financial Planning
• Management & Project Management
• Inside/Outside sales
Interns will also be involved in completing real projects for profit center managers that directly affect decision making. The internship is designed to provide insight into CED’s culture and career opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Learning all aspects of the CED business.
• Communicating – both written and spoken – in English.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree.
• Current, valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Authorization to work in the United States (without requiring work authorization sponsorship by CED now or in the future).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software.
Additional Competencies:
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Detail oriented.
• Ability to solve problems.
• Must be a self-starter who can handle a heavy volume of work and be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
Working Conditions:
Conditions vary based on the intern’s current segment of the training and may include warehouse, office, and external environments. Activities may include lifting, sorting, standing, and possible extreme heat/cold conditions. Office segments may include sitting for extended periods. Travel – both by car and by air – may be required for various segments.
