Job Description: Marketing & Outreach Intern
Black & Bronze Fest is seeking a Marketing & Outreach Intern to help elevate the festival’s presence and impact in the Chicago community. This is a seasonal, unpaid internship.
• Duration: 10–12 weeks (e.g., Jun–August)
• Hours: ≈ 15–20 hrs/week
• Location: Hybrid (Chicago event locations + remote work)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Community Outreach & Partnership
• Identify potential sponsors, vendors, community groups, and media allies.
• Assist in drafting outreach emails and making follow-up calls.
• Maintain contact lists and support relationship-building efforts.
2. Content & Social Media Support
• Help schedule and publish engaging content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and email newsletters.
• Coordinate with artists and vendors to gather materials (photos, bios, videos).
• Analyze engagement metrics and propose improvements.
3. Event Promotion & Presence
• Support on-the-ground promotional events (e.g., pop-ups, community tabling).
• Assist with signage creation, festival handouts, and distribution.
• Represent Black & Bronze Fest at partner/pop-up events throughout the summer.
4. Marketing Collateral & Campaigns
• Draft blog/social content, press materials, email blasts, and flyers.
• Ensure branding is consistent and compelling across all channels.
5. Project Coordination & Reporting
• Track campaign progress, outreach efforts, and performance metrics.
• Compile a final wrap-up report outlining achievements, insights, and key takeaways.
Learning Opportunities:
• Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Lead.
• Gain valuable experience in nonprofit/event marketing, social media strategy, and community engagement.
• Build professional relationships within Chicago’s Black arts and small business communities.
Candidate Profile
Required:
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Marketing, Communications, PR, Business, or related field.
• Excellent communication—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
• Strong social media knowledge (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook).
• Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable at public events and festivals.
• Able to commit to some evenings/weekend events.
Preferred:
• Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or Mailchimp.
• Understanding of cultural/community-first marketing.
• Passion for Black arts, culture, and local entrepreneurship.
• Connection to Chicago’s creative/community organizations.
