Job Description:

The company is seeking an AI Strategist to join their team and shape the future of their software development practices. This role, reporting to the CTO, will be instrumental in driving the adoption of AI tools that will fundamentally change how the engineering teams build software and create value for their customers.

As a Principal AI Engineer, the successful candidate will be a subject matter expert and evangelist for AI innovations in software development. They will work closely with engineering, data, QA, and product teams to identify, prioritize, and implement AI use cases that benefit the company. This includes:

• Staying up-to-date with the rapidly evolving AI landscape and identifying tools that impact engineering productivity.
• Developing, maintaining, and supporting internal AI tools, including platforms like Onyx, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Devin, and plugins for Zendesk, Jira, and other platforms.
• Collaborating with engineering managers to understand requirements, design pilot programs, and execute rollouts of AI tools.
• Working with QA teams to leverage AI for automated test development, maintenance, and execution.
• Collaborating with customer data and internal data teams to apply AI/ML techniques to unlock valuable data insights.
• Coaching and mentoring engineers on AI tool adoption and best practices.
• Defining metrics to measure the success and adoption of AI tools and workflows.
• Reviewing and assessing AI initiative outcomes and adjusting strategies based on team feedback and performance data.
• Providing guidance for company AI compliance and ethics policies.

The role’s success will be measured by:

• Measurable improvements in team throughput, code quality, and developer satisfaction due to AI tool adoption.
• Empowering internal teams to operate more efficiently by leveraging AI-driven tools.
• Unlocking customer data insights through AI/ML investigations.

Ideal candidates will have:

• A BS in computer science or a related technical degree is strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of software development experience, with proficiency in JavaScript and/or Python.
• 2+ years of AI/ML experience.
• Practical experience delivering code into production using AI-augmented coding tools like GitHub Copilot and Cursor.
• Experience with autonomous coding agents such as Devin, and a well-informed opinion on their role in software development.
• Experience with Linux, Docker, command-line tools, Git, and shell scripting.
• A strong knowledge of SaaS architectures, APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with cloud ML tools, preferably AWS services like Bedrock and SageMaker, is a plus.
