This job posting is for a paraeducator position within the Exceptional Child Education (ECE) program of a school district. The district is committed to providing high-quality education to students with disabilities through individualized instruction and various programs, techniques, methods, and materials.
Job Description:
The paraeducator will work under the direction of a certified teacher to support students with disabilities in the classroom. The role is fundamentally supportive, assisting in implementing each student’s individual education plan (IEP) and helping to create a positive, safe, and structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assisting in implementing each student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP).
• Helping to establish and maintain a pleasant, safe, and structured learning environment.
• Demonstrating willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
• Providing support to students with Moderate to Severe Disabilities (MSD), Mild Mental Disabilities (MMD), Other Health Impairments (OHI), Emotional Behavioral Disabilities (EBD), Autism (AUT), Visual Impairment (VI), Hearing Impairment (HI), Learning Disabilities (LD), Social Communication, or a combination of these areas.
• Assisting with the physical needs of students, such as positioning, toileting, and lifting, if required.
• Attending district ECE in-service for professional growth.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Passing score on the Kentucky Paraeducator Assessment (KPA) or 48 college semester hours.
• Willingness and aptitude to work with students with disabilities.
• Physical ability and willingness to assist with physical needs of students.
• Willingness to attend district ECE in-service for professional growth.
• Effective communication skills.
Working Conditions:
• Working Calendar: 187 Days/ 7 Hours
• Salary Schedule: 1A (Grade 4)
• Hourly Pay Range: $15.66/hr – $18.63/hr
• Changes in assignment or ECE designation could occur during a school year.
