Job Description:
Christ the King School, a Catholic school in Chicago’s North Beverly neighborhood, is seeking an enthusiastic 3rd Grade Teacher for a maternity leave position, lasting from August through mid-November. The teacher will provide instruction at various levels across all subjects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Religious and Ethical Conduct: Teach and act in accordance with Catholic doctrinal and moral teachings. Serve as a role model for students’ religious formation and represent the Archbishop of Chicago and the Catholic Church.
• Mission Alignment: Know, teach, and act consistently with the school’s religious and educational mission, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures.
• Professional Development: Complete Catholic identity formation training and other required professional development from the Archdiocese of Chicago.
• Religious Activities: Lead and/or participate in religious instruction, ceremonies, rituals, or other religious activities as directed by the principal.
• Communication: Communicate regularly with students, parents/guardians, colleagues, and the principal.
• Teaching Duties: Perform teaching duties as assigned by the principal, maintain accurate student attendance and academic records.
• Meetings and Collaboration: Attend required faculty and staff meetings and cooperate with the principal and staff in school-related meetings, activities, and projects.
• Classroom Management: Maintain a safe, orderly, and secure learning and working environment.
• Performance Review: Participate in the annual performance review.
• Confidentiality: Maintain confidentiality and discretion regarding school personnel, students, and general school matters.
• School Representation: Positively represent the school/parish at all school/parish events (including extracurricular activities) and in the general public.
Requirements and Preferences:
• Practicing Catholic (preferred, required for religion teachers)
• Must meet compliance with safe environment requirements.
• Education: Must hold a Bachelor’s degree.
• Licensure: Must have valid state licensure for the grade/subject area (preferred, not required).
• Must complete Catholic identity formation training.

Compensation:
The annualized salary range for this position is:
• Lay: $37,000 – $67,000
• Religious: $34,000 – $61,000
Pay is based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
