Role: Instructional Design Manager, Certifications & Designations
The Instructional Design Manager, Certifications & Designations is responsible for crafting comprehensive and impactful instructional materials and experiences tailored to guide individuals towards obtaining certifications, designations, and other credentialing within the credit union industry. This role involves leading the design, development, and maintenance of competencies for the curricula, driving instructional design projects, providing guidance and support to event production and meetings teams, setting instructional design standards, fostering innovation, and promoting continuous improvement in online, and blended learning environments.
Responsibilities:
• Project Management/Instructional Design Process:
• Lead instructional design projects from inception to completion, including scoping, planning, resource allocation, and delivery.
• Define project objectives, timelines, and deliverables, and ensure timely and on-budget completion.
• Work with the Director of Certifications and Designations to prepare, administer, adjust, and project a budget and business plan for each assigned program.
• Meet attendance, financial, and educational goals for each program.
• Continually review expenses and make changes to programs as needed to meet or exceed overall budgets.
• Recruit, hire, and review subject matter experts, work with production specialists, and other stakeholders for successful project implementation.
• Uphold and maintain instructional design standards, competency models guidelines, and best practices across educational events.
• Oversee the development of instructional materials (course outlines, learning objectives, assessments, and multimedia content).
• Conduct quality assurance reviews of instructional materials to ensure alignment with instructional design standards and learning objectives.
• Instructional Design Strategy:
• Develop and implement instructional design strategies aligned with organizational goals and promote effective learning outcomes.
• Stay informed about emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in instructional design and educational technology.
• Identify new areas for curriculum development and new educational resources based on the changing needs of the credit union industry.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify learning needs and develop innovative solutions.
• Collaborate with the production team to select and implement appropriate learning technologies, authoring tools, and educational technologies.
• Work with the enterprise brand team to ensure instructional material accessibility for all learners and adherence to accessibility and enterprise brand standards.
• Continuous Learning/Onsite Engagement:
• Maintain expertise in adult training techniques, the financial services industry, and instructional design.
• Incorporate expertise into current programming and/or the creation of new programs through ongoing research & development of adult instructional design techniques.
• Responsible for onsite, online, hybrid web-based curricula implementation.
• Provide speaker feedback and coaching real time.
• Assist instructors in modifying content and creating exercises/activities as appropriate.
• Other onsite and online duties may include conference weaving activities, webinar facilitation, conducting student orientation, making faculty introductions/announcements, facilitating student discussions & acting as back-up in case of last-minute faculty cancellations.
• Serve as Association Services liaison to credit unions and assigned committees.
• Stakeholder Engagement:
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders (faculty, subject matter experts, meetings team, enterprise marketing professionals, and other Association Services peers).
• Create and foster relationships with credit union communities, advisory committees, conference committees and other members of the learning community.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gather feedback, address concerns, and promote understanding of instructional design processes and principles.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Adult Education, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience with instructional design & development with applicable knowledge of credit union compliance and operations.
• 5+ years of experience coordinating in person adult training programs.
• 5+ years of fiscal/budgetary management experience.
• 5+ years of experience in design & delivery of web-based/virtual adult training programs.
• 5+ years of project management experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a skilled public speaker with demonstrated success delivering effective presentations.
• Strong understanding of adult learning theory, Blooms taxonomy, and best practices in instructional design.
• Thorough understanding of the financial services industry and the responsibilities of its officials and staff, with strong knowledge of the credit union industry, compliance, and operations.
• Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance.
• Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated success leading, developing, coaching, and mentoring others, cross-functionally.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Additional skills: project management, statistical analysis, creativity, decision-making, innovation, initiative, leadership, strategic thinking, organization, Windows, multi-media software and equipment.
• Ability to travel up to 70 days per year.
