Job Description:

The Brookings Internship Program provides undergraduate students, specifically juniors and seniors, with a pre-professional learning experience, offering meaningful, practical work related to their field of study or career interest. This internship focuses on technology policy, providing an opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a professional environment. The internship pays $18.00 per hour and requires a commitment of at least 20 hours per week during regular business hours, with some flexibility around academic schedules.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities:

• Work alongside leading experts in government and academia.
• Learn research skills, including summarizing scholarly literature and collecting and manipulating data.
• Attend meetings, think tank events, professional development workshops, and public Brookings events.
• Network with other interns throughout the Institution.
• Research topics related to artificial intelligence, emerging technologies, privacy, mass communications, and digital inclusion.
• Edit written products.

Eligibility and Requirements:

• Undergraduate student (completed sophomore year) from any major. Inter-disciplinary backgrounds are a plus. Recent college graduates and graduate students are also eligible to apply.
• Interest in technology policy and the intersection of public policy and science, technology, and innovation.
• Strong research skills (quantitative or qualitative) preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, time-management, and organizational skills.
• Ability to synthesize technical details from multiple sources.
• Must be located in the U.S. for the duration of the internship.
• Hybrid or remote work options are available, but work location cannot be in Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington.
• Must submit a 2-3-page writing sample.
• Must submit a cover letter and resume. Cover letter should highlight educational experience and skills, along with an explanation of how this internship will contribute to your professional goals. Please address your cover letter to Hiring Manager.
• Successful completion of a background investigation is required.
