Job Description: AARP Hawai`i Communications Internship (Summer 2025)
This paid internship offers a chance for creative and results-driven students to gain experience in communications, marketing, and community outreach. The role focuses on improving the lives of older adults and building a better future. The internship runs during Summer 2025, with potential extension through the end of the year.
Responsibilities:
• Communications & Marketing: Assist in creating written materials (news releases, flyers), social media video posts, and video news releases.
• Social Media Management: Provide social media support, create compelling content, and manage/schedule posts.
• Email Marketing: Prepare email newsletter content for AARP Hawai`i events, following provided templates.
• Volunteer Engagement: Engage volunteers in advocacy, community outreach, and communications activities.
• Event Support: Help facilitate virtual and in-person events, including Facebook Live streaming.
Qualifications:
• Enrollment: Must be a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or postdoctoral student at an accredited college or university (and remain enrolled throughout the internship) or a college graduate enrolled in continuing education.
• Skills (Preferred): Familiarity with video creation/editing and knowledge of multiple social media platforms.
• Abilities: Ability to manage multiple projects, anticipate needs, prioritize tasks, work independently and under tight deadlines.
• Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Other: Must be a self-starter and adaptable.

• Professional demeanor and ability to work effectively with others.
• Sound judgment and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
• Hybrid Work Environment: Mondays and Fridays are remote workdays (within the US and its territories), except for essential functions.
Compensation & Benefits:
• hourly rates: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Interns are non-exempt and not eligible for employee benefits. AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.
