Job Description: Aerospace Systems Engineer
Blue Origin is hiring for multiple Aerospace Systems Engineer positions across its Business Units. New hires will be assigned to a team based on skills and experience, and current business needs. The company offers specialized early-career development opportunities and mentorship.
This role directly contributes to top company goals. Relocation assistance is provided. Applications are accepted continuously until positions are filled.
Responsibilities: Projects will vary depending on career path but may include aspects of applied systems engineering such as:
• System definition
• Systems testing
• System integration
• System safety
• Operations
• System verification of fluid, mechanical, propulsion, and electrical systems.
Specific responsibilities also include:
• Decomposing internal customer requirements into test system requirements specifications (with bi-directional traceability).
• Developing and managing interfaces through requirements and Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and drawings.
• Leading and presenting at major gated reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) on system technical readiness and Systems Engineering deliverables status.
• Owning verification and validation planning, traceability, and completion through test plan creation and Test Readiness Reviews (TRRs).
Qualifications:
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident, or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
• Minimum B.S. degree in engineering or a technical field, earned within the last year, with a start date by Fall 2025.
• Experience with aerospace, mechanical, electrical, or systems engineering on complex systems.
• Ability to break down complex problems into traceable tasks and communicate project status concisely.
• Relevant internship/co-op and/or hands-on experience demonstrating technical and leadership skills.
• Ability to build trust, maintain positive professional relationships, and contribute to an inclusive culture.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team on rapid development programs.
• Flexible and adaptable mindset.
• Self-driven ability to seek out requirements with minimal direction.
Desired Qualifications:
• M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with requirements development/management tools (e.g., Jama).
• Experience with systems engineering modeling tools (e.g., Rhapsody or Cameo).
• Previous customer-facing roles with experience presenting to and interacting with customers.
