About the Company:
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) is offering a paid summer internship within their SciLine Department. AAAS is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing science and serving society. SciLine is a free service that connects journalists and scientists, enriching U.S. journalism with scientific evidence and expertise.
Job Description:
This is a remote internship, with an option for those near D.C. to work from the office 1-2 times per week. The internship runs for 12 weeks, from June 2, 2025, to August 22, 2025, with an hourly rate of $18.50. The intern will support SciLine’s core marketing functions, helping to expand the reach of their services to U.S. news reporters and scientists.
Responsibilities include:
• Drafting social media posts for various platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter/X, Bluesky) to promote events and resources.
• Updating email marketing databases to maintain a current list of U.S.-based journalists.
• Updating SciLine’s website with meta descriptions and image resizing, adhering to SEO best practices.
• Updating SciLine’s YouTube account with video assets, following SEO best practices.
• Assisting the Marketing Manager with research, data entry, outreach, and production tasks related to promoting SciLine.
Minimum Requirements:
• Current enrollment (or recent graduation) in an undergraduate or graduate program at a university/college (science majors preferred).
• Familiarity with social media and email marketing for non-profit organizations.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and project management abilities.
• Excellent writing and communication skills.
