Nelson Labs is a global leader in outsourced microbiological and analytical chemistry testing and advisory services for the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Serving over 3,800 customers across 14 facilities internationally, Nelson Labs offers over 800 laboratory tests supporting customers throughout the product lifecycle, from development and validation to regulatory approval and ongoing quality assurance. They are known for collaborating with clients to address complex issues.

Job Description: Lab Analyst Intern

Program Overview: A 12-week internship program running from May 19th to August 8th, focused on training in basic laboratory testing techniques within the medical device testing field.

Responsibilities:

Learning and Development: The primary focus is hands-on learning through performing laboratory tests under the supervision of an assigned supervisor and mentorship of a dedicated mentor.
Laboratory Testing: Performing basic lab procedures such as plate counts, Gram stains, plate streaking, aseptic techniques, and daily standardization.
Quality Collaboration: Participating in the investigation and resolution of quality events (unexpected results, deviations, etc.).
Regulatory Compliance: Adhering to regulatory requirements (GMP, GLP, ISO, etc.) and ensuring accurate and concurrent data recording.
Communication: Reporting unforeseen circumstances or events to the Study Director.
End-of-Program Presentation: Leading a presentation summarizing learning and experience gained during the internship. Training on presentation skills is provided.

Department Assignment: Interns are assigned to specific areas upon selection, such as Bioburden, Biocompatibility, Bacterial Endotoxin Testing, Healthcare Reprocessing, Routine Chemistry, Quality, Regulatory, Operational Excellence, or QC Validations.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 hours/day, day shift (start times between 7 AM – 9 AM).

Post-Program Opportunities: Prior interns have been offered opportunities to return for future programs, part-time roles during school, or permanent positions upon graduation.

Education and Experience Requirements: College student majoring in a life science (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology). Students graduating in Spring 2024 and interested in permanent employment should apply to open Lab Analyst roles.
