Job Description:
This is a part-time internship (20 hours/week) for rising seniors and master’s students majoring in Accounting (or equivalent finance and business programs) located at their Westport Home Office. The role offers a broad range of responsibilities across various finance functions:
Key Responsibilities:
• Routine Finance Support: Supporting the Finance Team in month-end close processes, including account reconciliations and analysis of account balances. This includes preparing clear and effective account reconciliations for various accounts and conducting analytical reviews and research.
• Cash Management: Assisting with daily check retention, maintaining deposit logs, coding check deposits, and completing monthly bank reconciliations. This also involves liaising with local hospital personnel regarding cash handling processes (clarifying check coding, etc.).
• Leases and Fixed Asset Management: Reviewing capital expenses to identify and reclassify fixed assets (8 hours/week dedicated to this). Managing the Leases email inbox, assisting with fixed asset projects (CIP review, subledger cleanup), preparing monthly lease rollforwards (ASC 842 compliance), and handling month-end tasks like reviewing vendor invoices for prepaid expense amortization.
• Acquisition Accounting: Preparing journal entries for initial funds flow of acquired hospitals, gathering/uploading documents for valuation specialists, reviewing legal and purchase-related documents (agreements, disclosures), maintaining acquisition document trackers, assisting in preparing purchase price allocation (PPA) journal entries, reviewing legal invoice expenses, and categorizing GL data for P&L analysis. This includes assisting with pulling vendor invoices for month-end review.
Qualifications:
• Rising senior or master’s student in Accounting (or equivalent finance/business program).
• 20 hours/week availability in the Westport Home Office.
• Familiarity with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Teamwork skills and a willingness to learn.
• Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
• Interest in learning accounting and financial reporting systems (D365).
• Positive attitude and eagerness to learn.
Pay Range: $20-$20 USD/hour
