They aim to counter the performative nature of current social media by fostering a more genuine and nostalgic online experience, helping users find community and a sense of belonging (“their third place”). The company is currently focused on growing its platform and user base.
Job Description: Graphic and Animation Designer Internship (Unpaid, Remote)
GroupChats is seeking a highly creative and deadline-oriented Graphic and Animation Designer to contribute to their social media presence and overall branding. This is an unpaid, remote internship suitable for students, offering valuable experience in a fast-paced startup environment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong portfolio demonstrating experience in both graphic and animation design. No C2C or C2H arrangements are offered.
Responsibilities:
• Conceptualization and Design: Generating visual concepts and multiple design iterations for social media posts and other marketing materials. This includes choosing design elements like colors, typography, and imagery with a strong understanding of user experience.
• Software and Tools: Proficiency in industry-standard software such as CapCut, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign is essential. The candidate should be proactive in maintaining and updating their skills to reflect current design trends.
• Collaboration and Communication: Effectively incorporating feedback from the founder and other team members. Collaborating with the team and engaging with the user/audience.
• Production and Delivery: Preparing final artwork for social media and print (if needed), ensuring consistent branding and adherence to specifications. Keeping abreast of current design trends and techniques to produce innovative and relevant designs.
Qualifications:
• Previous experience as a graphic designer and animation/multimedia designer is required.
• A strong portfolio showcasing previous work is mandatory (applications without a portfolio will not be considered).
• Ability to start immediately.
• Startup experience is a plus.
• Students are welcome to apply.
• Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines are crucial.
