Job Description: Audit Intern
KPMG is seeking an Audit Intern to join its Audit Services team. This role offers a chance to contribute significantly to the financial statement audits of clients, primarily focusing on Korean clients or non-Korean companies requiring strategic support in Korea. The internship focuses on several key responsibilities:
• Financial Statement Audits: Working as part of a team, the intern will play a crucial role in conducting financial statement audits for clients, helping to ensure the accuracy and reliability of financial information while adhering to principles of objectivity and independence. This includes contributing to the overall effectiveness of client operations and upholding the highest professional integrity standards.
• Risk Assessment: The intern will develop an understanding of client-specific risks by reviewing financial results, external information, business trends, and client transactions.
• Audit Documentation: Preparing clear and well-structured audit documentation, detailing the understanding of clients’ processes and technology systems.
• Testing and Procedures: Under guidance, executing and documenting tests of client controls and financial statement account balances using established standards and terminology. This includes supporting the execution of high-quality audits through assigned tasks and professional client and team interactions.
• Data and Analytics (D&A): Supporting the use of D&A in the audit process. This involves data extraction and analysis, utilizing various technologies and tools such as AI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI, and assisting in the preparation of related documentation.
Qualifications:
• Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or an equivalent program. Pursuing CPA licensure requirements in the relevant state is also necessary. Additional academic credits must remain to be completed post-internship.
• GPA: A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean is required, with the ability to utilize both languages in a business setting.
• Technical Skills: Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred, along with experience using data analysis tools like Alteryx or Power BI. Knowledge of technical accounting, financial reporting standards, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and the ability to learn KPMG audit tools and client applications quickly are also required.
• Soft Skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset; strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills; sound professional judgment and professional skepticism; flexibility and adaptability as a team player; leadership experience (a plus); resourcefulness; project management skills (a plus).
• Location: Must reside within a commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to client sites as needed using personal transportation. In-person work at the office or client sites is expected for an average of three days a week. Some client assignments may require travel and overnight stays.
