Job Description: Audit Intern

KPMG is seeking an Audit Intern to join their Audit Services team. The role involves working collaboratively within a team on financial statement audits for capital markets clients. Key responsibilities include:

Conducting Audits: Playing an integral part in financial statement audits, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of client financial information while upholding objectivity and independence. Contributing to the overall effectiveness of client operations and maintaining the highest professional integrity.
Risk Assessment: Developing an understanding of client-specific risks by reviewing financial results, external information, current business trends, and client transactions. This focus will primarily be on Korean clients or non-Korean companies requiring strategic assistance in Korea.
Documentation: Preparing clear and well-structured audit documentation outlining the understanding of clients’ processes and technology systems.
Testing & Analysis: Executing and documenting testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using established standards and terminology. This includes utilizing data and analytics (D&A) tools such as AI, Excel, Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Power BI for data extraction, analysis, and substantive audit procedures. Documentation of this work is also required.
Teamwork & Client Interaction: Supporting the execution of high-quality audits through assigned task performance and professional interactions with clients and engagement teams.
Project Management: Demonstrating project management skills (a plus).

Qualifications:

Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or equivalent. Progressing towards CPA licensure requirements in the relevant state is mandatory (academic credits must be completed before starting as an Audit Associate). Additional academic credits must be remaining upon internship completion to fulfill degree and/or CPA requirements.
GPA: A preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Languages: Bilingual in English and Korean, with the ability to utilize both languages effectively in a business context.
Technical Skills: Coursework or a minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred. Experience with data analysis tools like Alteryx or Power BI is also preferred. A strong understanding of technical accounting, financial reporting standards, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is essential. Proficiency in MS Office (especially Excel) and an aptitude for learning KPMG audit tools and client applications are required.
Soft Skills: Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong communication, time management, and relationship-building skills. The ability to exercise sound professional judgment, professional skepticism, and adaptability is crucial. Teamwork, leadership experience, resourcefulness, and the ability to deliver high-quality work are highly valued.
Commute: Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance to the office and be able to travel to client sites using personal transportation (car or public transit). In-person work at the office or client site is expected for an average of three days per week, with potential for travel and overnight stays depending on client location.
