Job Description: Research Business Operations Summer Intern
This is a full-time, 12-week summer internship (June 4, 2025 – August 15, 2025) based in Washington, D.C., with a hybrid work model. The position is located in their regional office and reports to the Senior Director of Mid-Atlantic Permanente Research Institute. This internship is ineligible for benefits.
Responsibilities: The intern will gain hands-on experience supporting the Research team in various business operations aspects, including:
• Supporting the development and refinement of key research operations processes: This includes research participant recruitment, clinical trials billing workflows, grant proposal submissions, compliance tracking, and maintenance of logs. The intern will also assist with general research operations tasks as needed.
• Collaborating with multiple supervisors and team leads: The intern will receive direction from various team members to ensure the smooth execution of research operations.
• Contributing to ongoing efforts to streamline processes: This involves tracking compliance and improving workflow efficiency across research-related activities.
Requirements:
• Education: Must be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Finance, Accounting, Research, or a related field. Recent graduates are not eligible.
• Experience: Ideal candidates will have experience as a graduate research assistant or in a similar role, demonstrating an interest in a healthcare or research business leadership career.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required; experience with data analysis tools is a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills are essential.
• Location: Candidates must either currently reside in or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and be able to commute to the office as needed.
• Vaccinations: Documentation of the Covid vaccine (2-dose series or J&J 1-dose prior to October 1, 2023, or 1 dose of the most current vaccine) and the influenza vaccine are required as a condition of employment.
• Compensation: The hourly rate ranges from $20.00 to $25.00, based on skills, qualifications, experience, and market data.
