About the Company:

Pinellas County’s official tourism marketing and management organization, Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VisitSPC), also known as the Convention and Visitors Bureau, is seeking a paid summer intern. The organization is located at 8200 Bryan Dairy Rd., Suite 200, Largo, FL 33777.

Job Description:

VisitSPC offers a paid internship (up to 12 weeks) for current college/university students. While the internship is for one semester, there are options available spanning 24 weeks (Fall/Spring, Spring/Summer, Summer/Fall). The internship provides experience across multiple departments including Brand Activations, Data & Digital Platforms, Sports Commission, and Film Commission. The schedule is 8:30 am – 5 pm, with the possibility of occasional evening or weekend work (not exceeding 30 hours per week).

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Research: Conducting research on promotional items, activations, and services to boost VisitSPC’s brand exposure.
Writing & Editing: Proofreading copy, website content creation, and potentially creating event talking points (depending on assignment, excellent writing, copy editing, and proofreading skills may be required).
Database Management: Updating VisitSPC’s websites and CRM (Customer Relationship Management) database with accurate event and partner information.
Event Planning & Execution: Assisting with the planning and implementation of logistics for familiarization tours (FAMs) and other activations, including itinerary creation, scheduling, asset reservation, marketing/digital component coordination, setup/load-in/load-out, pre/post-event reporting, and ensuring brand standards are upheld. This includes support for elite events like the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, Sugar Sand Festival, Valspar Championship, St. Pete Pride, etc., and work with other attractions and local partners.
Marketing Asset Management: Assisting with inventory of marketing assets and collateral.
Communications & Customer Service: Supporting VisitSPC departments with internal and external communications and customer service.
Community Relations: Assisting with event contracts and community relations.
Social Media: Creating social media content, including destination vertical video capture.
Partner Relations: Working with attraction partners to enhance editorial business profiles.

Requirements:

• Must be currently enrolled as a sophomore or higher-level student in a college/university marketing, communications, tourism/hospitality, or related program.
• A writing sample may be required.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Highly Desirable:

• Knowledge of St. Pete-Clearwater area attractions and offerings.
• Attendance at a Tampa Bay area college or university.

Skills & Abilities:

• Knowledge of the tourism industry, especially Pinellas County tourism.
• Research and analytical skills.
• Website and CRM database update skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Detail-orientation, multitasking, and prioritization abilities.
