Job Description: Vertex Co-op Program – ESG & Corporate Responsibility
The Vertex Co-op Program offers students hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working alongside leading professionals in an innovative and collaborative environment. The program emphasizes teamwork, challenges students with project plans, and fosters a sense of community. Co-ops gain exposure to various functional areas, including interactions with organizational leaders.
Job Summary:
As a member of Vertex’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Responsibility (CR) team, the co-op will contribute to key projects advancing Vertex’s ESG ambitions. The role encompasses several areas, including:
• Environmental Sustainability: Research and support initiatives related to environmental sustainability within the company.
• Access to Medicines: Contribute to projects focused on improving access to Vertex’s medicines in lower-income countries.
• External Reporting: Assist with mandatory and voluntary external reporting, including CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive) and country-specific disclosures.
This diverse role provides exposure to various business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Potential assignments may include:
• Benchmarking: Researching industry ESG efforts and providing recommendations.
• External Disclosures: Supporting mandatory disclosures like CSRD and country-specific requirements.
• CDP Submission: Assisting with the development and submission of Vertex’s annual CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) report.
• Regulatory Tracking: Monitoring current and emerging global ESG regulations, standards, and reporting frameworks, coordinating submission requirements.
• Presentations: Preparing presentation materials for key meetings.
Qualifications:
• Graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in sustainability, business, law, government, or communication, or demonstrating significant interest in health/medicine/public policy.
• Excellent research skills.
• Organized, efficient, clear communication and writing style.
• Creative problem-solving abilities.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse colleagues.
• Project management experience (a plus).
• Experience with process documentation (a plus).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States. (No sponsorship provided for internships or entry-level roles within this part of the organization).
• Must be enrolled in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025.
• Must be available for full-time work (40 hours/week) from July to December 2025.
Program Details:
• Dates: July – December 2025 (Full-time)
• Pay Range: $20.00 – $35.00 USD/hour
