Job Description: AARP South Region Internship (Summer 2025)
AARP’s South Region team seeks a rising junior, senior, or graduate student for a paid internship running from Summer 2025 to the end of the year. This internship offers the opportunity to apply project management, strategic analysis, and event management skills within a dynamic team environment. The intern will contribute to impactful engagement and advocacy efforts for the 50+ community across nine states.
Responsibilities:
• Project Support & Implementation: Collaborate closely with regional leadership (Regional Vice President, Business Integration Director, and other team leaders) to support projects, meetings, and the implementation of new “test and learn” techniques. Assist in planning and executing special projects designed to solve problems and foster a nationwide culture of collaboration, acting as a liaison between state offices and national headquarters to improve communication.
• Event & Engagement Coordination: This includes moderating/coordinating virtual/hybrid events and meetings, participating in volunteer engagement efforts/projects, and identifying new opportunities to enhance the South Region’s social media presence.
• Data Analysis & Reporting: Contribute to data analyses, write up findings to identify and address issues, determine best practices, and develop troubleshooting solutions. Prepare executive briefings and reports to effectively share information across the region.
• Knowledge Transfer & Collaboration: Participate in meetings and work groups to gain and share knowledge on regional issues and communication processes.
Qualifications:
• Academic Status: Must be a rising undergraduate junior or senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student at an accredited college/university and remain enrolled throughout the internship; or a recent graduate enrolled in continuing education.
• Commitment & Collaboration: Must be committed to AARP’s goals and priorities and willing to collaborate effectively with others.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams). Familiarity with video creation/editing and multiple social media platforms is a plus.
• Work Style: Must be a self-starter, adaptable, able to work independently and under tight deadlines, and capable of managing multiple projects effectively.
• Other: Ability to work effectively in a virtual/remote environment. AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.
Compensation and Benefits:
• hourly rates: $18 (undergraduates), $21 (graduate students), $28 (Ph.D. candidates).
• Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
