Job Description: AARP South Region Internship (Summer 2025)
AARP’s South Region team seeks a rising junior, senior, or graduate student with strong project management, strategic analysis, and event management skills, and a passion for impacting the 50+ community. This paid internship (anticipated start date: Summer 2025) will run through the end of the year. The intern will work closely with the Regional Vice President, Business Integration Director, and other regional team leaders within a nine-state region.
Responsibilities:
• Support projects and meetings: Assist in implementing new “test and learn” techniques, planning and executing special projects, and serving as a liaison between state offices and National HQ to improve communication.
• Event and project coordination: Moderate/coordinate virtual/hybrid events/meetings, participate in volunteer engagement efforts/projects, and develop new strategies to enhance the South Region’s social media presence.
• Data analysis and reporting: Contribute to data analyses, write reports to identify and address issues, determine best practices, and develop troubleshooting solutions.
• Executive briefings and reports: Create executive briefings and/or reports to effectively share knowledge across the region.
• Knowledge transfer and collaboration: Participate in meetings and work groups to learn about the region’s priorities and communication processes.
Qualifications:
• Enrollment Status: Must be a rising junior or senior undergraduate, graduate student, or post-doctoral student at an accredited college/university and remain enrolled throughout the internship, or be a recent graduate enrolled in continuing education.
• Commitment to AARP’s mission: Must be able to commit to AARP’s goals and priorities and collaborate effectively with others.
• Virtual work environment proficiency: Ability to work effectively in a virtual/remote environment.
• Technical skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams). Familiarity with video creation/editing and various social media platforms is a plus.
• Essential skills: Self-starter, adaptable, able to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, able to work independently and discern priorities.
• Legal compliance: AARP will not sponsor an employment visa for this position.
Compensation and Benefits:
• hourly Rate: $18 for undergraduates, $21 for graduate students, and $28 for Ph.D. candidates.
• Benefits: Internships are non-exempt positions and are not eligible for employee benefits.
