Job Description:
This is a 12-week, full-time (40 hours/week), paid Clinical Research Technician internship at AstraZeneca’s headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD, starting May 19, 2025. The internship focuses on the early clinical development of oncology therapeutics, encompassing biologics, small molecules, and advanced modalities like antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) and immunotherapies.
Responsibilities:
Interns will contribute to critical projects, collaborating with experienced professionals. Specific responsibilities include:
• Scientific Research Process: Understanding and potentially contributing to hypothesis generation and development.
• Clinical Study Team Involvement: Gaining exposure to the roles and execution of clinical development programs.
• Protocol & Study Design: Learning about protocol development, study design, and clinical development plan creation.
• Oncology Efficacy & Safety Assessments: Assisting in assessing the efficacy and safety of oncology treatments through data collection and analysis.
• Data Analysis & Interpretation: Contributing to the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of clinical data.
• Professional Communication: Enhancing verbal and written communication skills through interactions with various teams.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Working with professionals in diverse roles to understand the interdisciplinary nature of clinical research.
• Additional Clinical Sciences Activities: Assisting with other clinical research-related tasks as needed.
Compensation:
$23 – $25 per hour; plus potential housing support for out-of-state interns.
Eligibility:
• Must be currently enrolled in a PharmD program with at least two years of completed coursework by May 19, 2025.
• Must have completed a minimum of 60 credits prior to pharmacy school and at least 120 credits (equivalent to a bachelor’s degree) by the internship start date.

• Excellent attention to detail, project management, prioritization, and ability to deliver high-quality results.
• Strong interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation communication skills.
• Ability to summarize, present key information, and make informed decisions.
• Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills.
• Prior pharmaceutical/biotech experience is a plus but not required.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• General knowledge of allied health sciences and patient protocols.
• Data collection skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Computer and software application proficiency.
• Ability to work with personal protective equipment (PPE).
