Job Description:
The VDOF is offering a Summer Forestry Internship Program – 2025 Business Administration Internship. This is a paid internship opportunity for college students (both two-year and four-year programs) in good academic standing. The internship runs from June 16, 2025, to August 15, 2025, for a maximum of 360 hours at a rate of $16.00 per hour. The position is located in Charlottesville, VA, with standard work hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Teleworking is not available.
The internship offers practical experience in various business administration functions, including:
• Financial Administration: Assisting with tasks such as preparing invoices, tracking expenses, and preparing reports.
• Project Management: Assisting with special projects, from planning and execution to monitoring progress.
• Process Improvement: Providing recommendations for improving internal data systems and streamlining agency administrative procedures and workflows.
• Procurement: Assisting with the procurement of forestry supplies and items for field and program personnel.
• Interdepartmental Collaboration: Working and collaborating with various administrative offices, including finance, procurement, grants, budgeting, facilities management, and information technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Undergraduate enrollment in an accredited college or university program with related business administration coursework.
• Understanding of core business functions (finance, budgeting, data management, computer technology).
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to changing priorities and situations.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute to various aspects of business operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
