Job Description: Continuous Improvement Intern (Summer 2025)
The Continuous Improvement Intern plays a crucial role in supporting the plant’s continuous improvement initiatives. This internship offers hands-on experience in Lean manufacturing principles and process improvement. Specific responsibilities for the Summer 2025 internship include:
• Supporting continuous improvement projects, tasks, and activities under the guidance of the Continuous Improvement Manager.
• Leading hands-on problem-solving using Lean principles such as 5S, 5 Whys, and Kaizen.
• Developing process maps by collaborating with various departments.
• Supporting daily CI activities including Gemba walks, employee suggestion programs, and visual daily management.
• Participating in and leading teams/Kaizens focused on problem-solving and quality issues.
• Driving improvements in cycle time reduction, waste reduction, yield improvement, productivity, and throughput.
• Preparing monthly reports on key departmental metrics.
• Defining corrective and preventive actions to enhance processes.
• Conducting time studies and “day-in-the-life” analyses to support the creation of Leader Standard Work.
Required Skills:
• Understanding of cycle time studies.
• Knowledge of basic Lean tools (5S, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, Kaizen, process mapping, visual daily management).
• Ability to create process maps.
• Proficiency in Excel and data analysis.
• Proficiency in MS Visio for creating process maps.
• Understanding of Kaizen structure (how Kaizens are conducted, team formation, and planning).
Required Experience:
• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline, with Industrial Engineering preferred.
• Previous co-op or internship experience is preferred.
