Job Description: IT & Digital Intern, Summer 2025 – Atlanta, GA
This is a 10-12 week summer internship at Smurfit WestRock’s headquarters in Atlanta, GA, within the IT & Digital organization reporting to the Chief Information & Digital Officer. The internship offers exposure to various IT & Digital functional areas, engagement with leadership, mentorship, training, social events, and a final company-wide intern summit including a community project. Successful completion may lead to a full-time opportunity, potentially including their two-year rotational Technology Leadership Program.
Responsibilities:
Interns will have opportunities in areas such as Digital Innovation, Information Security, Development, User Experience, SAP, Operations Support, and Extended Reality (XR). Responsibilities may include:
• Working with IT teams to support research needs (vendor comparisons, detailed analysis, best practices benchmarking, technology trend identification).
• Participating in the research, analysis, and implementation of key IT and Digital projects and initiatives.
• Accelerating innovative ideas (discovery/prototype) and building digital acumen.
• Preparing support documentation and program specifications.
• Improving and developing processes and procedures, and testing programs.
• Coordinating projects, analyzing data, and supporting reviews.
Qualifications:
• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in IT, IS, CS, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Math, Science, or Business.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred.
• Strong interest in Corporate IT, Digital, and leading others in a future career.
• Relevant experience (internships, co-op assignments, leadership roles) is a plus.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience with Microsoft O365 apps (Excel and PowerPoint knowledge).
• Demonstrated leadership potential, networking skills, and willingness to participate in social and team-building events.
• Willingness to work in Atlanta, GA and potentially in or travel to manufacturing/production environments.
