Job Description: SkillBridge Internship
This internship is part of the Military DoD SkillBridge program, offering active-duty service members nearing the end of their service (within the last 180 days) a chance to gain valuable civilian work experience. The program is designed to provide real-world training and experience in in-demand fields. Participants are *not• compensated by GE Healthcare; they continue to receive their military compensation and benefits.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Under supervision, evaluate basic biomedical equipment issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Conduct planned maintenance (PM), safety, and environmental inspections.
• Maintain effective customer relationships through daily communication and follow-up to ensure problem resolution and satisfaction.
• Implement GE/customer facility contracts, supporting business goals.
• Assist senior technicians on more complex repairs.
• Work as part of a team to provide efficient service delivery.
• Document all repair actions and submit reports as scheduled.
• Maintain approved parts inventory.
• Manage vendor service delivery processes according to GE policies.
• Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration.
• Maintain and enhance technical knowledge through formal instruction, staying current with standards, codes, and procedures for safe and effective medical equipment use.
• Comply with Health and Human Services and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
• Complete all required Quality and Compliance training.
• Immediately report any customer quality or compliance concerns to the Quality Organization.
• Comply with GEHC’s Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Active Military Personnel: Must be within 180 days of separation from service.
• Ability to develop and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs unassisted; frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, sitting, and standing for extended periods; reaching at, above, and below shoulder level; neck flexion/extension; good hand and finger dexterity; specific vision abilities (color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception).
• Must not relocate more than 30 miles from current location without managerial approval.
Desired Characteristics:
• Previous experience or coursework in interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment.
• Strong customer relation skills.
• Analytical and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
• Experience working with internal teams and external customers in a solution-based service process.
