Job Description: SkillBridge Intern – Biomedical Equipment Technician
This internship is part of the Military DoD SkillBridge program, offering active-duty service members (within 180 days of separation) a chance to gain valuable civilian work experience. Interns will receive real-world training and work experience in the field of biomedical equipment repair, while GE Healthcare evaluates their suitability for future employment. Important Note: Interns are not compensated by GE Healthcare; they continue to receive their military pay and benefits.
Essential Responsibilities:
• Under supervision, evaluate basic biomedical equipment issues and perform necessary repairs.
• Conduct planned maintenance (PM), safety, and environmental inspections.
• Maintain excellent customer relations, communicating daily to ensure issue resolution and follow-up.
• Implement GE/customer facility contracts, supporting business goals.
• Assist experienced technicians with more complex repairs.
• Contribute to efficient service delivery within the assigned area.
• Document all repair actions and submit reports as scheduled.
• Manage parts inventory and vendor service delivery processes.
• Maintain tools, test equipment, and ensure proper calibration.
• Update technical knowledge on current standards and procedures for safe equipment use.
• Adhere to Health and Human Services, and Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
• Complete all required Quality and Compliance training.
• Report any customer quality or compliance concerns immediately.
• Comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, and relevant regulations.
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Active Military Personnel (within 180 days of separation)
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted; frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, sitting, and standing for extended periods. Reaching at, above, and below shoulder level; neck flexion/extension; good hand and finger dexterity are required.
• Specific vision abilities: color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must not relocate more than 30 miles from current location without managerial approval.
Desired Characteristics:
• Prior experience or coursework in interpreting schematic diagrams, troubleshooting, and performing planned maintenance on biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment.
• Excellent customer relationship skills.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
• Experience working with internal teams and external customers in a service-oriented process.
