Job Description: SkillBridge Intern – Biomedical Equipment Technician

This internship is part of the Military DoD SkillBridge program, offering active-duty service members nearing the end of their service (within the last 180 days) a chance to gain valuable civilian work experience. Interns will receive real-world training and experience in the in-demand field of biomedical equipment technology. Compensation is not provided by GE Healthcare; interns continue receiving military pay and benefits.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Working within a hospital environment, under supervision, to evaluate and troubleshoot imaging and patient care system (PCS) equipment issues.
• Implementing necessary repairs and performing planned maintenance (PM).
• Conducting safety and environmental inspections.
• Maintaining effective customer relationships.
• Following GE policies, procedures, and hospital protocols; completing required documentation.
• Communicating with customers to ensure issue resolution and follow-up, driving customer satisfaction.
• Supporting business goals and objectives by implementing GE/customer facility contracts.
• Assisting more experienced technicians with complex repairs and resolutions.
• Collaborating with the local team to deliver efficient service to all accounts within the assigned area.
• Documenting all repair actions and submitting reports/summaries as scheduled.
• Maintaining approved parts inventory.
• Managing vendor service delivery processes in accordance with GE policies.
• Ensuring proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, including calibration.
• Maintaining and expanding technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures for the safe and effective use of medical equipment.
• Adhering to Health and Human Services, as well as Environmental Health and Safety requirements.
• Completing all planned Quality and Compliance training within deadlines.
• Reporting any customer quality or compliance concerns immediately to the Quality Organization.
• Complying with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Active Military Personnel
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted; frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, sitting, and standing for extended periods; reaching at, above, and below shoulder level; neck flexion/extension; good hand and finger dexterity; color, close, distance, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
• Must not relocate more than 30 miles from their current location without manager approval.

Desired Characteristics:

• Previous experience or coursework in interpreting schematic diagrams and performing troubleshooting and planned maintenance on biomedical, diagnostic imaging, or electronic equipment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills; ability to explain technical issues clearly to customers.
• Experience working with internal teams and external customers in a solution-based service process.
