Job Description: Vertex Co-op Program – ESG & Corporate Responsibility
The Vertex Co-op Program provides students with hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working alongside leading professionals in an innovative and collaborative environment. The program emphasizes teamwork, challenges students through project assignments, and fosters a sense of community. Co-ops gain exposure to various functional areas and interact with organizational leaders.
Job Summary:
As a member of Vertex’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Corporate Responsibility (CR) team, the co-op will contribute to key projects supporting Vertex’s ESG ambitions. This involves research and advancement across multiple areas, including:
• Environmental sustainability
• Access to medicines in lower-income countries
• Mandatory and voluntary external reporting (e.g., CSRD and country-specific disclosures)
The role offers broad exposure to various business functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Potential assignments may include:
• Benchmarking industry companies on ESG efforts and providing recommendations.
• Supporting mandatory external disclosures, such as CSRD and country-specific reports.
• Assisting in the development and submission of Vertex’s annual CDP report.
• Tracking current and emerging global ESG regulations, standards, and reporting frameworks, coordinating submission requirements and deadlines across global entities.
• Preparing presentation decks for key meetings.
Qualifications:
• Graduate or undergraduate student pursuing a degree in sustainability, business, law, government, communications, or demonstrating strong interest in health/medicine/public policy.
• Excellent research skills.
• Organized, efficient communication and writing style.
• Creativity.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate.
• Project management experience (a plus).
• Experience with process documentation (a plus).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States. (No sponsorship provided for internships or entry-level roles in this area).
• Enrollment in an advanced degree program if graduating before July 2025.
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours/week) from July to December 2025.

• Dates: July – December 2025
• Schedule: Full-time
• Pay Range: $20.00 – $35.00 USD/hour
