Job Description:
The New Jersey Judiciary’s Probation department seeks undergraduate students majoring in social or behavioral sciences for internship positions. The hourly rate is $20.00 for a maximum of 35 hours per week, not exceeding 944 hours annually (minimum 20 hours per week required).
Responsibilities:
• Observing client interviews and court proceedings.
• Completing special projects.
• Conducting research and analysis.
• Performing computer-related work.
• Collecting and entering data.
• Providing customer service.
• Drafting correspondences and memos.
• Attending community planning meetings.
• Assisting staff as directed.
Requirements:
• 30 credit hours from an accredited college pursuing a degree or certificate in Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a related field. An unofficial transcript must be submitted with the application.
• Regular and predictable physical presence at the worksite is essential. Some positions may require physical abilities such as climbing, prolonged standing, stretching, bending, reaching, and lifting/carrying supplies weighing up to 75 pounds.
• A New Jersey driver’s license may be required depending on the specific position.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory.
• Successful completion of a thorough background check, including fingerprinting, is required.
• In accordance with the New Jersey First Act, newly hired employees must establish and maintain principal residence in New Jersey within one year, unless an exemption is granted.
