Job Description: Pathway Marketing Internship
This is a paid, in-person internship program running from September 2025 to May 2026 at Nelnet’s Lincoln, Nebraska offices. The program is designed to provide comprehensive, real-world experience through several departmental rotations.
Program Details:
• Rotations: Interns will rotate through various departments within Nelnet, including those within Corporate Communications, Nelnet Business Services (NBS) Marketing, Nelnet Business Services (NBS) Culture, Nelnet Diversified Services (NDS) Communications, and Vosaic. This allows exposure to diverse projects and teams.
• Mentorship: One-on-one mentorship is provided by experienced professionals within the company.
• Project Work: Interns will work on real business projects, contributing directly to Nelnet’s operations, either enhancing existing initiatives or creating entirely new ones. Collaboration with fellow interns on projects addressing current business challenges is also part of the program.
• Structured Programming: The program includes scheduled events, networking opportunities, and mentorship sessions designed to foster professional development. This includes business-case presentations and intern-specific events.

Specific Responsibilities (Marketing Track):
Interns in the Marketing track will support various marketing groups across the organization. Responsibilities include:
• Working with experienced professionals to guide growth across multiple skillsets.
• Seeing projects through the entire process from creative brief to implementation.
• Executing digital content, website creation, written copy, and trend research.
• Producing high-quality work for Nelnet’s various business lines.
Qualifications:
• Education: Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communication, Advertising and Public Relations, Graphic Design, or a related field.
• Skills & Experience: Familiarity with social media trends, technology, and copywriting skills; innovative ideas and research strategies; a critical eye for detail; strong problem-solving abilities; self-motivation and accountability; exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; adaptability to multiple rotations; willingness to share ideas and accept feedback; ability to manage time effectively between school and work. Ideally a sophomore or junior, but all students will be considered.
• Technical: Access to reliable network infrastructure for occasional virtual work if needed.
• Time Commitment: Must be able to work at least 15-20 hours per week consistently.
Compensation: $14 to $16 per hour, depending on academic year.
