Job Description: CNN Fact Check Internship

WBD’s CNN Fact Check department is seeking interns to assist in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of news stories across all platforms. Fact Check is responsible for news group-wide script and story approval, encompassing investigative scripts, documentaries, and sensitive/controversial content. Their role is to uphold high standards of storytelling, clarity, accuracy, quality, fairness, and balance, while preventing libel, defamation, and infringement issues. Fact Check editors provide final approval for TV and online reporting and other sensitive editorial matters.

Responsibilities:

Fact-checking scripts, digital articles, and long-form stories.
• Reviewing pieces for editorial accuracy, fairness, and balance.
• Responding to editorial requests from CNN correspondents globally via phone, email, and in-person.
• Tracking project progress.

Qualifications:

• Interest in news.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Active enrollment in an accredited college or university for the internship duration (proof required).
• Rising junior or senior undergraduate student (18+ years old).
• Minimum 3.0 GPA (transcript required if offered the position).
• Must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship.

Internship Details:

Duration: 11 weeks (two options for start/end dates: June 2nd – August 15th or June 9th – August 22nd).
Hours: 35-40 hours per week, hybrid (in-office and remote).
Location: Atlanta, GA.
Compensation: Paid internship with a competitive hourly wage.
Credit: Credit is not required, but documentation for school credit is provided if needed.
Relocation: Not provided.
Interviewing period: February to mid-April.
