Job Description: User Growth Engineering Internship (Summer 2025)
This 12-week summer internship (starting in May/June 2025) within the User Growth engineering team focuses on optimizing the new user experience. Interns will contribute to improving various aspects of the product, including:
• Onboarding experience: Enhancing the initial user experience to ensure smooth and engaging app adoption.
• Video playback experience: Optimizing video playback for seamless viewing across devices and networks.
• Algorithm of For You Feed: Improving the recommendation algorithm to deliver personalized and engaging content to users.
Responsibilities:
• Building new features used by hundreds of millions of users globally.
• Solving complex, large-scale technical problems.
• Participating in technical discussions regarding the team’s product and engineering work.
Qualifications:
• Minimum Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate/Graduate/Master’s degree in Software Development, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 12-week commitment during Summer 2025. Relevant majors include computer science, statistics, or other machine-learning-heavy disciplines.
• Experience with Python, Java, Golang, C#, or C++.
• Experience in either mobile development or backend development.
• Must obtain and maintain work authorization in the country of employment.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Graduation in December 2025 or later, with the intent to return to studies after the internship.
• Passion for TikTok, augmented reality, and creative idea generation.
• Demonstrated software engineering experience (prior internships, work experience, coding competitions, or publications).
• Strong creativity and problem-solving skills.
Compensation & Benefits:
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $45 to $60, depending on location. Interns receive comprehensive benefits from day one, including health insurance, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, 10 paid holidays per year, and paid sick time (56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 hours if hired in the second half). Note that benefits may vary depending on employment nature and work location. The company reserves the right to modify benefits programs at any time.
