About UN Women:
UN Women is the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. Founded in 2010, it works to eliminate discrimination against women and girls, empower women, and achieve equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action, and peace and security. UN Women’s work is grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations and supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action on women’s rights. Currently, a significant focus is on the Generation Equality initiative, aiming to accelerate progress on gender equality amidst intersecting challenges like COVID-19, climate change, and conflict.
Job Description: Project Coordination Intern – Generation Equality
This internship, based within UN Women’s Generation Equality Coordination Hub, provides support for the planning and implementation of the Generation Equality initiative. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Coordination Specialist.
Responsibilities:
• Stakeholder Engagement: Support the planning and coordination of stakeholder engagement activities, including multi-stakeholder events, webinars, learning sessions, and meetings (both in-person and virtual). This involves liaising with colleagues across regions and thematic areas, particularly in the context of the 30th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action.
• Documentation and Reporting: Assist in drafting high-quality documents such as planning documents, meeting minutes, concept notes, backgrounders, guidance notes, talking points, briefs, and presentations for internal and external use. Capture project results, draft stories for internal/external updates, and support process flows and follow-ups. Contribute to financial and programmatic monitoring and reporting.
• Project Coordination and Implementation: Support the overall coordination and implementation of Generation Equality projects. This includes providing operational support for procurement requests, consultancies, and payments, in accordance with UN Women policies and guidelines. Assist in documenting progress and results against the Generation Equality Phase II Project Document.

Qualifications:
• Education: University studies in gender issues, political affairs, international relations, or a related field are required. Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in a graduate program, be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program, have recently graduated (within two years), or be enrolled in a postgraduate professional traineeship program that includes an internship.
• Language: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are essential. Knowledge of another UN language is advantageous.
Remuneration: A stipend will be provided to interns who do not receive financial support from other sources.
