Job Description: IT Internship – Summer 2025
CNO’s IT Internship program offers college students practical, hands-on experience in the IT department of a public insurance company. The internship runs from May 12th to August 1st, 2025. Interns will work in one of three areas:
• Development: Working within an Agile team, interns will contribute to projects using languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, Perl, and technologies related to Data Delivery.
• Information Security (Cybersecurity): Interns will assess existing processes for adherence to security protocols and CNO’s security standards. They will review documentation and onboarding procedures for the Security team.
• Other IT Functions: Interns may be involved in other IT areas and be exposed to tools like Tableau, Splunk, Automation Anywhere, PEGA, Visio, and ArchiMate.
Responsibilities:
Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks, including:
• Engaging with business and IT stakeholders.
• Updating, modifying, developing, and automating reports.
• Performing code reviews and adhering to code quality standards.
• Designing, analyzing, and presenting work outputs.
• Collaborating with business, solution architecture, testing, and development teams.
• Creating product backlog items, work items, and managing work execution.
• Participating in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews/product demos, and sprint retrospectives).

Qualifications:
• Progress towards a bachelor’s degree in computer science, informatics, software development, software engineering, data science, cybersecurity, or a related information systems discipline.
• Junior or senior standing, with an anticipated graduation date between December 2025 and December 2027.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Availability to work mid-May through early August 2025.
• Proficient understanding of programming languages (Java, Python, JavaScript, SQL, HTML, CSS, C#, Perl).
• Proficient with MS Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Outlook.
• Ability to work independently and as a team player.
• Strong organizational, prioritization, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship).
