Job Description: Qualcomm Security Engineering Internship (Summer 2025)

Qualcomm offers several Security Engineering internships for the Summer of 2025. Interns will work alongside experienced security engineers to enhance the security of Qualcomm systems and products used in billions of mobile, IoT, and connectivity devices worldwide. The work encompasses the entire device security stack, from hardware and firmware to systems, over-the-air (OTA) updates, and applications. Interns will gain hands-on experience in protecting real-world devices from attacks.

The internship offers opportunities in two main tracks:

Product Security Engineering: Projects focus on areas like threat modeling and risk assessment for hardware/software subsystems, fuzzing, program analysis (source and binary), exploit countermeasures, cryptographic assessment, 4G/5G cellular security, systems security, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth security, software supply chain security, hardware-based side-channel attack mitigations, and product security incident response. Desired skills include program analysis, supply chain security, vulnerability research (hardware/software), exploit mitigation, secure execution environments, hardware security, AI model security, and experience with 4G/5G, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth security. 1+ years of academic experience in computer systems security or embedded device security is preferred. Strong programming skills are essential.

Secure Systems (Security) Engineering: Projects could involve secure operating system features, hypervisor features, secure boot features, key management (on devices and backend servers), and the intersection of automotive safety and security. A strong understanding of systems security, operating systems, hypervisors, or trusted execution environments is necessary. Strong programming skills in languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python are required, along with a strong interest in securing mobile devices and programming languages. 1+ years of academic experience with these programming languages is preferred.

Qualcomm’s Internship Program:

The program includes mentorship, manager support, access to the Qualcomm employee community, professional development workshops, social events, speaker sessions, and an executive speaker series. Benefits include competitive hourly pay, accrued vacation time, relocation coverage, and furnished housing.
