Job Description: 2025 US Summer Internship – Software Engineering (IDR023721)

This is a 12-week paid internship program starting in late May or mid-June 2025, for students graduating between December 2025 and July 2026. Internships are in-person, located in Irvine, CA; Santa Monica, CA; Sherman Oaks, CA; Austin, TX; or Woodland Hills, CA. Relocation services and a living stipend are provided. The work week is Monday-Friday, with the specific in-office schedule determined by the hosting manager.

The internship offers several tracks:

Front-End Development: Focuses on building and maintaining consumer-facing websites and mobile properties for games and franchises. Requires a deep understanding of front-end languages (CSS, HTML, JavaScript, etc.) and experience with engineering tools (GitHub, unit testing, continuous integration).

Back-End Development: Involves building and maintaining consumer-facing websites and mobile properties. Requires a strong understanding of Python and Java programming, the Spring framework, SQL/NoSQL, data scaling techniques, and various engineering tools (including GitHub, unit testing, and continuous integration).

UX/UI Engineering: Concentrates on creating wireframes, mockups, and prototypes for websites and mobile applications. Involves conducting research, including competitive analysis and user feedback. Requires knowledge of standard practices for websites and mobile apps and strong communication skills.

Ecommerce Engineering: Oversees the online purchasing experience on the Battle.net Shop, from payment processing to clawbacks. Requires proficiency in Java, Linux/Unix, web technologies, experience with high-performance web APIs, and a passion for back-end systems.

Platform Engineering: Focuses on the behind-the-scenes technology, from infrastructure to developer portals. Requires experience with JavaScript, C++, Python, Java, REST, and other back-end technologies, along with an interest in infrastructure, server architectures, and back-end game services.

Application Engineering: Works on the desktop and mobile Battle.net application, Blizzard game websites, and corporate and esports landing pages. Requires proficiency in Javascript, Node.js, React, CSS, Kotlin, and other web-related technologies; an interest in desktop and/or mobile applications; and familiarity with Android Architecture.

Enterprise Applications Engineering: Collaborates with stakeholders to identify solutions for the business in Enterprise Architecture. Involves participation in all stages of the software development lifecycle. Experience with database development (RDBMS, SQL, PL/SQL), Java, C, C++, Python, JavaScript, API design/deployment, and ERP systems (Oracle ERP, SAP) is a plus.

Integration Testing Engineering: Integrates and branches code changes to bring games from concept to release. Requires proficiency in Python and scripting languages (Lua preferred), knowledge of Perforce, experience with C/C++, and strong communication and teamwork skills.

General Requirements for all Internship Tracks:

• Pursuing an associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degree, graduating between December 2025 and July 2026.
• Currently residing in the US or willing to relocate.
• Demonstrated learning agility, problem-solving skills, teamwork abilities, and effective communication.
• Ability to manage time effectively.
• Resume and code samples required for application.

Relocation assistance may be provided if required. The standard base pay range is $20.00 – $50.00 hourly, but the final offer will depend on experience, performance, and location. Incentive compensation may also be available.
