Job Description: Tax Intern

KPMG is seeking a Tax Intern to join its KPMG Tax practice. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, offering exposure to diverse aspects of tax work:

Tax Compliance, Advisory, and Planning: Performing tax-related tasks for a range of clients across various industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations).
Data Analytics: Participating in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology, creating tax return work papers and tax returns, and coordinating offshore resources.
Tax Due Diligence: Identifying tax exposures and opportunities for clients.
State and Local Tax (SALT): Assisting multi-state companies with SALT issues, encompassing compliance, advisory, planning, and controversies.
Multinational Tax Advisory: Advising multinational enterprises on:
• Business decisions (location and operation strategies, entity choice, supply chain optimization, capital access and mobilization).
• Tax planning decisions (anticipating and understanding short- and long-term tax implications, considering multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash posture).
Teamwork and Client Relations: Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and maintaining excellent client relationships.
Technology Proficiency: Building capabilities in key technologies used for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.
Professionalism: Acting with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to maintain KPMG’s work environment.

Qualifications:

Education: Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Degrees/areas of study in Accounting and Taxation.
• Pursuit of CPA licensure requirements in the relevant state (completion of academic credits before starting as a Tax Associate).
• GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data analytics.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; ability to work as a flexible and adaptable team player.
• Residing within a commutable distance to the office and ability to travel to client premises as needed.
• Authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
