They prioritize their employees, offering diverse career opportunities, flexible schedules, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits to foster a healthy and fulfilling work-life balance. The company emphasizes an inclusive environment built upon integrity and corporate responsibility.
Job Description: Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Engineer
Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control division seeks an emerging GNC Engineer to join a team supporting various contracts and Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects. This role involves designing, integrating, and testing GNC, tracking, and servo control algorithm solutions for missile and fire control products.
Key Responsibilities:
• Algorithm Development and Analysis: Design, develop, and analyze algorithms such as guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms.
• Modeling and Simulation: Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations, including missile 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations and effects-based simulations.
• System Performance Evaluation: Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments, verifying system and subsystem level requirements.
• Testing and Analysis: Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities, supporting ground and flight test efforts, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
• Collaboration and Communication: Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and external customers.
Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar field.
• Demonstrated ability to perform one or more GNC or Modeling and Simulation (M&S) assignments, based on coursework or professional experience:
• Developing and analyzing guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, and servo control algorithms.
• Developing and/or verifying/validating complex vehicle models and simulations (e.g., missile 6-DOF simulations).
• Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: C++, Matlab, Python.
• Strong mathematical skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance (must be obtained prior to starting).
Desired Skills:
• Experience developing and analyzing algorithms related to signal/image processing.
• Proficiency with C++, Matlab, Python, and Linux.
• Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post-flight verification analyses.
• Experience designing and analyzing target tracking and terrestrial navigation systems.
• Experience with optimal state estimation filters such as extended Kalman filters (EKF).
• Demonstrated skills in probability, statistics, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experience with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
• Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements.
Security Clearance: A Secret security clearance is required; US citizenship is mandatory.
