Job Description: Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Modeling & Simulation Engineer

Lockheed Martin’s Missiles and Fire Control division is seeking a GNC Engineer specializing in Modeling and Simulation. This role involves joining a team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers working on various contracts and internal research and development (IRAD) projects.

Responsibilities:

Model and Simulation Design and Documentation: Design and document the requirements and architecture for models and simulations.
Model and Simulation Development and Verification/Validation: Develop, verify, and validate complex models and simulations, including missile 6-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) simulations and effects-based simulations.
System Performance Evaluation: Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments, verifying system and subsystem-level requirements.
Analysis and Testing: Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities.
Support for Ground and Flight Tests: Support ground and flight test efforts, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities.
Program Reviews and Technical Interchange Meetings: Participate in program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and external customers.

Basic Qualifications:

U.S. Citizenship: Required for security clearance.
Onsite Work:** Willingness to work onsite in a classified area or lab environment.
Education:** BS or MS degree in computer science, physics, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, applied mathematics, or a similar field.
Programming Proficiency:** Proficient in C++. Proficient in either Matlab or Python.
GNC/M&S Experience:** Demonstrated ability to perform one or more of the following GNC or M&S assignments based on coursework or professional experience:
• Development and analysis of algorithms (guidance, navigation, autopilot, inertial tracking, servo control).
• Development and/or verification/validation of complex vehicle models and simulations (e.g., missile 6-DOF simulations).
• Strong mathematical skills in linear algebra, matrix math, statistics, trigonometry, and coordinate transformations.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:** Strong written and verbal communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Desired Skills:

• Proficiency with Python and Linux.
• Experience with Agile development.
• Ability to perform preflight system performance assessment and post-flight verification analyses.
• Experience deploying algorithms meeting real-time performance requirements.
• Experience with DevOps/DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines and software version control (e.g., Git).

Security Clearance: A government security clearance (Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years) is required. U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

Work Schedule: 4×10 hour day, 3 days off per week (onsite).
