Job Description: Legal Intern/Trainee
This internship offers support to the legal department and various specialist departments at Canon Production Printing Germany. The successful candidate will assist in handling legal issues and contract drafting, focusing on several key areas:
• Development, Production, and Sales: Providing legal support across the entire product lifecycle.
• International Purchasing: Managing legal aspects of global procurement.
• General Contract Law: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts.
• Copyright Law: Protecting intellectual property rights related to the company’s products and services.
• (Software) Licensing Law: Handling legal issues related to software licensing and distribution.
• Data Protection Law: Ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations (GDPR and others).
The role involves a broad range of responsibilities, including:
• Handling legal matters: Addressing issues from diverse civil and commercial law areas.
• Document preparation: Creating internal memos, expert opinions, and decision papers.
• Contract drafting and review: Assisting in the preparation and revision of contracts.
• Meeting participation: Attending internal and external meetings, contributing to discussions.
• Project involvement: Participating in projects, conducting research, and preparing expert opinions.
• Independent advisory work: Performing advisory mandates independently under supervision.
The ideal candidate will possess a completed first state law examination (Germany), ideally with some initial experience or a strong interest in contract law, IT law, and data protection law. Strong MS Office skills, excellent written and spoken German and English language abilities are essential. Additional required qualifications include the ability to clearly communicate complex legal and economic issues, strong communication and independent work skills, a service-oriented approach, confidence, negotiation skills, conscientiousness, and a high degree of self-motivation and flexibility. The internship is for a minimum of three months, commencing immediately, and is located in Poing, Germany.
